Identity theft happens when you suspect someone is impersonating your identity by fraudulently using your personal information. We recommend taking steps to protect yourself from social engineering and scams. This article explains what to do if you suspect someone created an ID.me account using your identity.
Note: If you see a “Duplicate Account” error message during verification, you should try to sign in to your original account.
