If you selected the wrong military affiliation (ex. Veteran vs. Service Member) or were assigned a status that isn't accurate during your initial sign up, please follow the directions below to update your military affiliation.
IMPORTANT: We are unable to verify two family members in the same ID.me account. These instructions should only be used by the person who is currently verified in the ID.me account you wish to update.
- Sign into your ID.me account.
- From your MyAccount Overview select "Manage IDs".
- Under your active Military ID click on the 6 dashes to expand the ID Card.
- Click on "Reverify ID" to bring the verification options up again.
- Follow the prompts and your status will be updated accordingly.
Recommendation: To accomplish your goal, we recommend using the "Upload Military Documentation" option to ensure you are verified correctly.
Service Member: If you need to update your status to Service Member (Active Duty, Current Reservist (excluding the IRR), or National Guard) you will want to use a Leave & Earning Statement (LES) issued within 30 days or Current Orders (for activated National Guard or Reserve members) that shows your activation dates.
Retiree: If you wish to verify as a Retiree we recommend uploading a DD214 or NGB form 22 that clearly shows your retirement status or 20+ years of service, Uniformed Services ID Card, a Retiree Pay Statement, or proof of medical retirement.
Note: Once your military affiliation is updated you may need to clear your cookies and browsing history in order to access some offers.
