If you're unable to remember your current password to access your ID.me, you can have reset instructions sent to the email address on record by clicking the "Forgot password" link on the ID.me sign-in screen.
Please follow these steps to reset your password:
Step 1: Click the "My Account" button on the home screen.
Step 2: Click the "Forgot Password" link located underneath the "Social Sign In" buttons.
Step 3: Enter your e-mail address in the field provided and then click "Continue".
Step 4: Once you enter your email address you will receive the screen below. You will then need to open your email and look for the "Your ID.me account password link" email from firstname.lastname@example.org.
NOTE: The screen shown above will stay open if you are using a mobile device or you open your email in a separate tab. Once you have reset your password that screen is no longer needed.
Step 5: Once you find the email open the password reset link email and click on the green "Reset your password" button.
OR click on the link below the green button or copy and paste that same password reset link into your browser (ie. Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari).
Step 6: Enter your new password twice and select "Submit".
NOTE: Your new password must be at least 8 characters and must also include one uppercase letter and one number.
NOTE: The password and password confirmation need to match exactly in order for the password reset to be successful. If you encounter an error at this stage, please re-type the password and ensure that the passwords are exactly the same (including uppercase and lowercase letters).
