If you can’t remember your current password to access your ID.me account, you can have reset instructions sent to your email address.
Please follow these steps to reset your password:
Step 1: Click the "Sign In" button on the ID.me homepage.
Step 2: Click the "Forgot Password" link located underneath the "Sign In" button.
Step 3: Enter your email address in the field provided and then click "Continue."
You will need to stay on this page and retrieve your code from a new tab, window, or device. Otherwise, you will need to request a new code to get back to this screen.
Step 4: Enter the 6-digit code sent to your email address.
Check your email inbox and spam folders for an email with the subject "Your ID.me account password reset code." Open the email to find your reset code, and then paste it into the field on the ID.me screen.
Step 5: Create a new password.
Enter a new password, and then enter it again to confirm. Your new password must be at least 8 characters and must also include one uppercase letter and one number.
The password and password confirmation need to match exactly in order for the password reset to be successful. If you encounter an error at this stage, please re-type the password and ensure that the passwords are exactly the same (including uppercase and lowercase letters).
