Security Key is a multi-factor authentication (MFA) method that enhances your ID.me account security by requiring a USB key during sign-in. This article explains how to set up the Security Key MFA.
Before you start
- Required hardware: You will need to purchase a Security Key from a third-party provider.
- Browser compatibility: Security Keys are supported by Google Chrome and Opera. Ensure you are using the latest version of your browser for the best experience.
Set up security key MFA
- When prompted, select Security Key.
- Follow the prompts to insert your Security Key into a USB port on your computer.
- Press the button on your Security Key to register it with your ID.me account.
Sign in with security key MFA
To sign in using Security Key MFA:
- Sign in to your ID.me account.
- When prompted, select Security Key.
- During the sign-in process, insert the key into a USB port and follow the on-screen prompts.
