No. Authorizing ID.me to view your credit profile for identity proofing has no impact on your credit score and does not hurt your credit report in any way.
There are two types of credit bureau inquiries.
- Hard inquiries (for example, for loan approval) show up on your credit report and can alter your credit score. Hard inquiries occur when you give a company permission to review your credit report before a transaction.
- Soft inquiries are for other purposes, like authenticating your identity, or when you review your own credit report.
ID.me only uses soft inquiries to help verify your identity. You will be able to see that a soft inquiry was made when you view your credit bureau report. It will be visible only to you, and will not have an impact on your credit score.
