ID.me Authenticator is an iOS or Android app that can be used to secure your ID.me account with 2-factor authentication. By enrolling in this method, you’ll receive a “push notification” that you can tap-to-approve sign-ins. The instructions below detail the steps for downloading and using our app to secure your account using ID.me Authenticator in Push Notification mode.
Choose "Push Notification":
There are two methods you can use to download the ID.me Authenticator App; Text Message or Email:
If you select the “Text Message” option, you will enter your mobile phone number and receive a text message that includes a link to the App Store. This link must be opened even if you've already downloaded the ID.me Authenticator app.
If you chose the “Email” option, you would need to open the email on your device to access the App Store. Email is the best option for Tablets.
Once you enter your phone number or email address, the page will refresh to “Step 2 of 2: Open the app and follow the instructions.”
NOTE: You have 15-minutes to download the app and complete the 2FA enrollment process.
Once you have downloaded the app a sign in request will be shown at the top of the page. Open the request and select "Yes" on the Login Request page to complete your registration:
