The process of verifying your identity for prescribing controlled or non-controlled drugs should be simple and fast.
The steps you will take to verify your identity with ID.me will be based on iPrescribe's policy with ID.me.
The first steps to completing your identity verification will happen in the iPrescribe app, then you will be connected to ID.me. For questions about the iPrescribe portion, please contact iPrescribe at 1-866-263-6512 or iPrescribe@DrFirst.com.
After you connect to ID.me, the steps to complete identity verification are:
Step 1: Sign Up or Sign In to your ID.me Account:
- If you do not have an ID.me account, you should Sign Up for an ID.me account. After you have signed up for an account, you will confirm your email address.
- If you have already have an ID.me account and/or have already completed identity proofing with ID.me for another Health IT provider, you should Sign In to ID.me.
Step 2: Secure your account:
Secure your account with an additional layer of security via two-factor authentication (2FA) also known as multifactor authentication (MFA).
2FA strengthens access security to your account by requiring at least two methods to verify your identity.
Step 3: Verify your Identity:
You will be presented with options of how you may choose to verify your identity. These options may include: Driver's License, Passport, Passport Card, State ID Card or questions based on your credit history.
Complete the information requested to complete your identity verification.
Step 4: Medical Credential Check:
iPrescribe has chosen to have ID.me verify your Medical Credentials. You will verify your NPI number and/or DEA number (with schedules) as required.
Step 5: Consent - Allow:
The final step is to give consent for your data to be shared back to iPrescribe. When you click ‘Allow’, the data attributes listed on the Consent screen will be shared back to iPrescribe.
