The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has partnered with ID.me to provide identity verification for individual FERC record requests. To access protected FERC records, you will need to verify your identity through ID.me. This helps FERC make sure you are you—and not someone pretending to be you.
There are two different forms you can submit to FERC with ID.me verification. You can:
- Submit a request for individual access to records protected under the Privacy Act, or
- Submit a consent form to provide FERC authorization to disclose your records to another person or entity.
Fill out the appropriate form with all the required information, and return to this page for instructions on verifying your identity with ID.me.

What is an ID.me Trusted Referee?
If you are having difficulty with verifying your identity online, you may be directed to meet with a Trusted Referee on a video call.
A Trusted Referee is a trained identity specialist employed by ID.me to prove your identity. When verifying your identity with a Trusted Referee, you may be asked to upload photos of your identity documents and show the physical copies to an ID.me Trusted Referee. You may need to show either two primary documents or one primary document and two secondary documents and/or proof of a Social Security number. Your wait time for a Trusted Referee may vary, but you can choose to return later at a time that works best for you.
