The Connecticut Department of Children and Families (CT DCF) works with ID.me to ensure you have a secure account when signing in to the DCF Portal. ID.me’s partnership with Connecticut DCF is exclusively for signing in and using multi-factor authentication (MFA). This article explains how to use ID.me with Connecticut’s DCF.
Before you start
- You can use ID.me with CT DCF’s CPS Background Check and Mandated Reporter Online Reporting Portal.
- For background checks, you’ll need to enter the token code that was provided by the agency you’re working with. ID.me doesn’t provide token codes.
1. Create your ID.me account
To get started, you’ll need to create an ID.me account:
- Go to Connecticut DCF’s Portal and select CPS Background Check or Mandated Reporter Online Reporting Portal.
- Select Sign in with ID.me. If you chose CPS background checks, select an agency from the dropdown, enter your token code, then select Sign in with ID.me.
- Create or sign in to your ID.me account. For detailed steps to create a new account, visit How do I create an ID.me account?
2. Set up multi-factor authentication (MFA)
While creating your ID.me account, set up multi-factor authentication (MFA) to ensure your account is secure. MFA strengthens account security by requiring two factors to confirm your identity when you sign in to your ID.me account. These factors usually include something you know (like a username and password), plus something you own (like a phone number).
To set up MFA, use one of these methods:
