Some ID.me verifications can expire, depending on what you verified for—such as identity or community. This article explains which verifications do and don’t expire, how long each lasts, and when you may need to reverify to maintain access to services or discounts. You’ll also learn how expiration differs between U.S. and Canadian community verifications.
Does my ID.me identity verification expire?
No — your identity verification does not expire. If your ID.me Wallet includes a “Verified Identity” card like the one shown below, it won’t expire. However, other cards in your Wallet—such as community verifications—may have expiration dates.
To check which cards may expire, sign in to your ID.me account. We recommend doing this at least once a year to stay up to date.
Reverify if your community verification expired
To reverify:
- Sign in to your ID.me account.
- Select My Wallet or My IDs.
- Find your community ID card, then select Reverify.
- Follow the steps and submit any information needed to reverify your community ID card.
Keep in mind, it’s not possible at this time to reverify Identity verification cards.
Which community verifications expire?
Some community verifications expire, depending on the group and when you originally verified. If your community card expires, you'll need to reverify to keep it active.
