If you no longer want to use a specific multi-factor authentication (MFA) method with your ID.me account, you can remove it from your security settings. However, you must always keep at least one MFA method active to keep your account secure..
Note: If you're trying to remove your MFA because you can't sign in or have a new device, follow the steps to reset your MFA method.
How to remove an MFA method
- Sign in to your ID.me account.
- In My Account, go to Sign In & Security.
- Under the Security tab, you'll see all of your MFA methods.
- Find the MFA method you want to remove, then select the trash can icon "🗑".
- Select Delete to confirm and remove the MFA method.
