You don’t need a smartphone to verify your identity. You can also verify your identity using a computer or tablet—as long as it has a webcam, access to the internet, and meets ID.me’s technical system requirements.
What if I don’t have a smartphone?
If you’re using a computer, during the verification process, select Take a selfie with my webcam when you reach the selfie step. Keep in mind, only some verifications require you to take a selfie using a computer. When requested, grant your browser access to your webcam.
What if I don’t have a phone?
If the partner you are using ID.me to access requires multi-factor authentication (MFA), you may need to receive verification codes as a phone call or text message. You can do this with any phone, except for numbers with an extension but you will need to access the same device every time you sign in.
If the partner you are accessing doesn’t require MFA, you can verify solely with a computer or tablet.
