Verify your identity for California Community Colleges with IDMe

When applying to a California community college through CCCApply, you may need to verify your identity with IDMe. To complete verification, you'll need:

  • A smartphone with a front-facing camera
  • An Email address
  • A government-issued photo ID ( U.S. driver's license, state ID, passport, permanent resident card, passport card, or tribal ID.)
  • Your Social Security number (SSN)

IDMe verifies your identity, but we don't make decisions about college admissions or financial aid.

Sign in or create an OpenCCC account

To get started:

  1. Go to California Community Colleges.
  2. Enter your college name, city or ZIP Code.
  3. Depending on whether you have an OpenCCC account:

    • Have an account? Select Sign in and follow the prompts.
    • Need an account? Select Create an Account and follow the prompts to enter your information, the Security Code you'll receive, and set up your account.
  4. Select Verify with IDMe. You’ll be redirected to the IDMe sign-in page.

Verify with IDMe

  1. Sign in to your existing IDMe Wallet or create a new wallet.
  2. Complete multi-factor authentication (MFA) or add MFA to protect your wallet.
  3. If you've already verified your identity with IDMe, consent to share your information with CCC.
If you haven't verified, follow the prompts to submit a photo of your government-issued photo ID.
If you're under the age of 18, you'll be prompted to join a video call with an IDMe agent to finish verifying your identity.
  4. When prompted, follow the instructions to record a video selfie. This helps confirm your photo matches your ID.
  5. Enter your personal information. This may include your phone number, Social Security number, and U.S. address. You may be asked to take a picture of the front and back of your Social Security card. If you don't have your original Social Security Card, you may need to provide other documents to verify your Social Security number.
If we can't confirm your information, you'll be prompted to join a video call with an IDMe agent to finish verifying your identity.
  6. When prompted, review your information and then select Allow to consent to sharing that information with CCC.
