If you forgot your password or previously signed in with a social account, you can reset or create a new password in just a few steps. This article explains how to request a reset email, set a new password, or recover your wallet so you can sign back in.

Reset your password

To reset your password:

1. Go to the ID.me sign-in page.
2. Enter your email address and select Continue.
3. Select Forgot password?.
4. Enter your email address and select Continue.
5. Check your email for a reset email titled “ID.me - Your password reset link.” It may take up to 10 minutes to receive it.
6. In the email, select Reset your password or copy and enter the code into the previous browser screen and select Confirm.
   

7. Enter your new password twice, then select Continue.

   Tip: Make sure to use a strong, unique password to help protect your wallet.

A message will confirm that your password reset was successful. You’ll be redirected to the ID.me sign-in page.

After you reset your password

1. On the ID.me sign-in page, enter your email address and new password, then select Sign in.
2. Complete multi-factor authentication (MFA). If you have a new phone number or other trouble completing MFA, visit Resetting your multi-factor authentication (MFA) method.

Troubleshoot password reset problems

Didn’t get your password reset email?

• Check spam or junk folders: The email is sent from hello@id.me.
• Resend your password reset email: Go back to the “Forgot password” page and select Resend my verification.

• Still not getting your password reset email? Confirm that your email address was entered correctly or contact your email provider for support.

Password reset link not working?

• Error messages: If there’s an error, update your browser and clear its cache, then try again.
• Password reset link expired: Remember, reset links expire after 15 minutes. Always use the most recent reset email.
• Resend your password reset link: From the “Forgot password” page, select Resend my verification.

I cannot access my email address
