If you can’t remember your current password to access your ID.me account, you can have reset instructions sent to your email address.
Please follow these steps to reset your password:
Step 1: Select "My Account" in the upper right hand corner of the ID.me homepage.
Step 2: Select "Sign In".
Step 3: Click the "Forgot Password" link located underneath the "Sign In" button.
Step 4: Enter your email address in the field provided and then click "Continue."
You will need to stay on this page and retrieve your code from a new tab, window, or device. Otherwise, you will need to request a new code to get back to this screen.
Step 5: Use the link in the email to reset your email or come back to this page and enter the 6-digit code sent to your email address.
Check your email inbox and spam folders for an email with the subject "Your ID.me password reset link."
Step 6: Create a new password.
Enter a new password, and then enter it again to confirm. Your new password should not be common or easily guessable and should contain the following: lowercase letter, uppercase letter, number, and be be at least 8 characters.
The password and password confirmation need to match exactly in order for the password reset to be successful. If you encounter an error at this stage, please re-type the password and ensure that the passwords are exactly the same (including uppercase and lowercase letters).
