You may be required to upgrade your ID.me account the next time you sign in to access a U.S. Department of Treasury application. To upgrade, you need to submit a video selfie.
This article explains how to upgrade your ID.me account to access some Treasury applications.
What you need to upgrade
To upgrade your account, you need a mobile phone that has a camera or a computer with a webcam.
Upgrade your ID.me account
To upgrade your account:
- Go to the login page for the Treasury application you need to access.
- Select the ID.me button to sign in with ID.me, then complete sign in using multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- When prompted, take and submit a video selfie using our selfie best practices. Your selfie will only be used to confirm that the person in the selfie matches your government ID. You may request that ID.me delete your Biometric Data at any time.
- After your selfie is accepted, select Allow to consent to share your information with the U.S. Department of the Treasury. After that, you can access the specific Treasury application.
Troubleshooting
If you submit a video selfie several time and it’s not accepted, you will be routed to verify your identity on a short video call.
