The FDIC Failed Bank Customer Service Center (FBCSC) works with ID.me to verify depositors, borrowers, creditors, and shareholders accessing the FBCSC. This article explains how to verify with ID.me for FDIC FBCSC.

Sign in to FDIC FBCSC

1. Go to the FDIC FBCSC.
2. Read and acknowledge the notice, then select Agree.
3. Select First-Time User. Do not select “Returning User.” 
4. Search for your failed bank, then select Continue to set up my account. 
5. Complete the CAPTCHA task.
6. Select Sign in with ID.me.
7. If you have an existing ID.me account, enter your email and password. Do not create another account.
   If you don’t have an ID.me account, create an account, then go to the section below to verify your identity.

If you’ve already verified your identity

From the Authorize screen, review the information that the FDIC will receive and then select Allow to consent to share that information with them.

After you complete this step, you can sign in to the FDIC FBCSC as a “Returning User” with your ID.me account. Be sure to enter the same email you used for ID.me in the “Email Address” field.

Verify your identity

To verify, you’ll need:

• Smartphone with a camera or desktop computer with camera and internet access
• Email address
• Photo ID (U.S. driver's license or state ID, U.S. passport, or U.S. passport card)
• Social Security number 

1. Begin verification

After signing in, you’ll see one of these screens or buttons:

• Choose a verification method: Select the document you’d like to upload, then continue to step 2 to upload your document.
• Join video call: Select this button to skip to step 3 to join a short video call.
• Get started: In rare cases, you may be prompted to select this button. Follow the steps in Joining an extended video call.

2. Upload your document

1. Consent to share your personal information with the FDIC FBCSC.
2. Enter your phone number. If you’d like to upload a different document, select Change document, then select the document you want to use.
3. Select Take a photo, then take and submit photos of your identity document. 
4. Enter your personal information.
5. Review your information and select Yes to confirm it is accurate. If something is inaccurate, select No and update your information.

3. Join the video call

1. Select Join video call.
   
2. Allow access to your device’s microphone and camera.
3. Consent to have the call recorded, then select Join video call again.
4. Stay on the call as the agent compares you to the document you uploaded. This process takes only a few minutes.

4. Share your information

After meeting with an agent:

1. Return to the FDIC FBCSC and select First-Time User. 
2. Enter and select the name of your failed bank, then select Continue to set up my account. 
3. Complete the CAPTCHA task.
4. Select Sign in with ID.me and sign in with your ID.me email address and password.
5. Review the information that the FDIC FBCSC will receive and then select Allow to consent to securely share that information with the FDIC.

After you complete these steps, sign in to the FDIC FBCSC as a “Returning User” with your ID.me account. Be sure to enter the same email you used for ID.me in the “Email Address” field.
