When accessing an online discount or deal on ID.me Shop, you may be asked to verify your status as a medical provider with ID.me. This article explains how to verify as a medical provider and access exclusive deals and discounts on ID.me.

You are eligible to verify as a medical provider if your occupation is any of the following:

How to verify
1. Begin verification
To get started:
- Visit any partner website offering deals or discounts for medical providers or visit ID.me Shop.
- Sign in to your ID.me account or create a new account.
- Select Medical Provider and select Continue to sign in.
Note: Some partners may require nurses to complete a medical provider verification in order to access certain offers. If you are a nurse, you can verify as both a medical provider and a nurse to make sure that you can access all offers available to you. For more information, visit Verifying as a Nurse.
2. Verify your identity using a phone number or documents
When verifying as a medical provider, most partners will ask you to verify your identity with:
- Your phone number and date of birth, or
- An identity document (driver’s license, state ID, passport or passport card)
If you are not prompted to verify your identity using a phone number, birthdate, or documents, enter your information and follow the steps to Verify using NPI credentials. You will be asked to provide your Social Security Number, for more information visit Why does ID.me ask for my Social Security number?
To get started, select the verification method you’d like to use.
To verify using your phone number:
- Select Begin and enter your phone number and date of birth. ID.me will text you a link to your phone number.
- Select the link in the text message to verify your identity.
- After verifying your phone number, go to Verify using NPI credentials to complete the verification process.
To verify with a government-issued photo ID:
- Select the photo ID you’d like to submit: driver’s license, state-issued ID, passport, or passport card.
- Submit photos of your photo ID using the camera on your smartphone, or upload an existing photo from your current device.
- If you’re taking photos with your smartphone, return to the previous browser tab after submitting your photos. Confirm that the information on your ID is clearly legible in the photo, then select Continue.
- After verifying your phone number, go to Verify using NPI credentials to complete the verification process.
3. Verify using NPI credentials
To verify your identity using NPI:
- Select Begin.
- If prompted, enter your personal information.
- If prompted, select your “Provider Type.”
- Provide your Type 1 NPI number, then select Continue.
Note: If you need to verify as a medical provider and don’t have an NPI number, follow the steps in Verifying as a Medical Provider without an NPI. - Review the information on this screen, and if everything is correct, select Continue.
If your credentials are approved, you will see a screen that says "You're Verified." Select Continue to proceed.
