You may help a friend or family member provide information and verify their identity. If you are helping a friend, keep these tips in mind:
- Use the family member’s information—when helping a family member verify their identity, it’s important that the ID.me account of a family member has their information, and not yours. This would include their email, phone number, name, and social security number.
- Member has to answer all questions if they are asked to verify on a video call with a Video Chat Agent, also known as a Trusted Referee. You may be present during the call, but it is important that you agree to ID.me’s guidelines.
If you use your own email or phone number when helping a friend or family member get verified, you may encounter issues if you need to create your own ID.me account.
