Alumni can unlock exclusive discounts by verifying their status with ID.me. This article shows you how to verify your alumni status with ID.me in just a few steps. Also, learn who qualifies and how to fix common verification issues.
Who qualifies for alumni discounts
Alumni means you are:
- A college graduate from an accredited, government-recognized, public or private university or college that grants degrees or certificates
- 18 years or older
Note: You do not need to be a member of your alumni association to verify your alumni status.
Documents to verify alumni status
To verify your alumni status, you’ll need one of the following documents:
- Your diploma or degree from a higher education institution
- Your final transcript showing graduation
Tip: Have a physical or digital version of your diploma or transcript ready to speed up verification.
1. Find and select an alumni discount
To get started:
- Go to ID.me Shop and search for “alumni.”
- Browse the available discounts.
- Select the offer you’d like to get. You'll be redirected to the retailer’s website.

Select the ID.me button
The ID.me button most often displays at checkout. You may need to confirm that you are verifying as an alumnus. You'll be redirected to the ID.me sign-in page.
2. Upload your graduation document to verify
To verify your alumni status:
- Sign in to your existing ID.me Wallet or create a new one.
- Select Begin.

Enter your personal information.
Note: The name and graduation date you enter must match the name and graduation date on your document. - Select your university from the drop-down menu or upload documentation. Make sure the graduation date you enter matches the date on your document.
- After your verification is accepted, select Allow to share your information with the retailer.
Troubleshoot alumni verification
My college or university isn’t listed
If your college or university isn’t listed, select the school that most closely matches the name of the school you attend.
I no longer have my university email address
If you previously verified as a student and used your university email address as the primary email on your ID.me Wallet, add your personal email.
