When you verify your identity on a video call, there are steps we recommend taking to ensure you get verified. This article explains how to have a successful ID.me video call.
Get ready for your call
To get ready for your video call, ensure you have the original, physical copies of your accepted primary or secondary identity documents to show to the Video Chat Agent. We recommend waiting to select Join Video Call until you have your documents ready.
Common documents include:
- Driver’s license or state ID
- Passport or passport card
- Social Security card
- W-2
Device tips
To ensure your device is ready for a video call:
Have a strong internet connection
Attending a video call requires a significant amount of bandwidth. We recommend connecting to wi-fi, if possible. Don’t worry if you briefly lose internet connection. As long as you reconnect within the hour, you will not lose your place in line.
Keep your device on and charging
Video calls can require more energy from your device, so it’s best to keep your device charging during the video call.
Enable your microphone and camera
If you receive a prompt asking that meet.id.me would like to access the microphone and camera, select Allow.
When you’re asked to show your documents during a video call, select the flip camera icon at the bottom of the screen to easily present your documents to the Video Chat Agent.
