Verify your Teacher status with IDMe for discounts

Teachers can unlock exclusive discounts by verifying their status with IDMe. This article shows you how to verify your teacher status with IDMe in just a few steps. Learn which documents qualify and how to fix common verification issues.

Who qualifies for teacher discounts

You must be a current educator. For specific education job titles that are eligible, visit Who qualifies for IDMe teacher discounts. 

License or document to verify teacher status

You can verify using your state license or by uploading a document. The document you’ll need depends on your job title. For a list of acceptable documents, visit What documents prove your teacher status.

1. Find and select a teacher discount

To get started:

  1. Go to the U.S. Teachers Discounts or Canadian Teacher Discounts.
  2. Browse the available discounts.
  3. Select the offer you’d like to get. You'll be redirected to the retailer’s website.
  4. Select the IDMe button
    The IDMe button most often displays at checkout. You may also need to specify that you are verifying as a teacher. You'll be redirected to the IDMe sign-in page.

2. Complete your teacher verification

To verify your teacher status:

  1. Sign in to your existing IDMe Wallet or create one.

  2. Select I am licensed by my state, or select I do not have my state license number to verify by uploading documentation.

    Tip: Use your state teaching license if possible — it’s the fastest way to verify.

  3. In the drop-down menu, select the state where you are an educator.
  4. Select Begin and follow the prompts to enter your personal and teacher information.
    If you choose to upload documents, make sure to use a document that is acceptable for your job title or position.

  5. After your verification is accepted, select Allow to share your information with the retailer.

Troubleshoot teacher verification

Change your teacher subgroup

If you verified for the wrong teacher subgroup, you can reverify to change your subgroup. To reverify:

  1. Sign in to your IDMe Wallet.
  2. Select Manage IDs, then select your teacher card.
  3. Select Reverify ID. You will be directed to the screen to start the verification process.
  4. Follow the prompts to verify. For steps to complete the re-verification, go to Get started above.

After changing your sub-community, your new card will display in your IDMe Wallet.
