The Massachusetts Department of Unemployment Assistance (MDUA) works with ID.me to create a highly secure identity verification process that ensures you—and only you—will be able to access your benefits. This article explains how to verify your identity for Massachusetts’ DUA.
Sign in to MDUA
If you already have an ID.me account, sign in to your account:
- Find the letter you received from MDUA and go to the link they provided, then select Verify with ID.me.
- Follow the prompts to sign in to your ID.me account.
- If required, follow the prompts to provide any additional information.
- From the Authorize screen, review the information that MDUA will receive and then select Allow to consent to share that information with them. Otherwise, follow the prompts to verify your identity.

Verify for MDUA
If you’ve never had an ID.me account, you’ll create an account before verifying your identity.
For steps to create an account and verify your identity, visit Verifying your identity with Self-Service.
After you verify
After you verify your identity, ID.me will notify MDUA, who will approve your pending identity verification. This process may take up to five business days to complete from the time you verify your identity. Continue to submit your weekly certification reports in the meantime. Note that approval of the identity verification issue will not release payment if there are other pending issues holding pay on your claim.
