When uploading documents before joining a video call, a utility bill that includes your address is an acceptable secondary document. If the name on your utility bill is different from the name you’re using to verify your identity, you must upload a document that shows the relationship between you and the person whose name is on the utility bill.
This is called a ‘linking’ document. For example, you may submit a utility bill that has your spouse’s name on it, along with a marriage certificate (a linking document) to prove you are married.
Acceptable linking documents
Linking documents you can use for bills include:
- Marriage Certificate or Domestic Partnership document
- Dissolution of Marriage document or Domestic Partnership
- Name change document
- Adoption document
- U.S. Birth Certificate
Upload linking documents
When uploading your documents:
- Choose a utility bill as the document you’d like to upload, then upload it.
- Select No, the document is in a different name. I will provide documents linking me to that name.
