The Idaho Department of Labor (Idaho DOL) works with ID.me to create a highly secure identity verification process that ensures you—and only you—will be able to access your benefits.
ID.me’s role in this is only for identity verification. ID.me does not approve unemployment claims or distribute funds to claimants. This article explains how to verify with ID.me for Idaho’s DOL.
How to verify
Follow the steps below to verify your identity.
1. Visit Idaho DOL
To get started:
- Go to the Idaho Department of Labor Claimant Portal.
- Select Sign in with ID.me.
2. Verify your identity
You can use the Self-Service verification method to verify your identity for unemployment benefits. For steps to verify your identity, visit Verifying for state benefits.
If you can’t complete the verification process due to an issue with your documents, you will be routed to verify your identity over a video call.
After you verify
If you verified with over a video call with a Video Chat Agent, please follow these instructions to continue your application process:
- Return to the Idaho Department Of Labor Unemployment Insurance portal.
- Select File for Unemployment, under the “Unemployment section.” This will take you to the Idaho Unemployment Claimant Portal.
- Select Sign in with ID.ME, and sign in using the email and password you gave ID.me.
- Complete your multi-factor authentication with ID.me. Once complete, the system will redirect you to the Claimant Portal automatically.

Enter your information:
- If you are a new user - You will be prompted to complete a claimant profile. Enter the requested information and select Submit. The system will redirect you to the “File Claim” application. Proceed by answering the prompted questions and submit your claim.
- If you are a returning user - Review your profile under the “Account” tab and update your personal information. Select the Apply for Benefits tab, proceed by answering the prompted questions and submit your claim.
After you verify your identity, you can sign in to your Idaho DOL account by selecting Sign in with ID.me. If you have any questions, please call the Idaho Department of Labor at 208-332-3575 and speak with a Workforce Consultant.
