ID.me has partnered with the Georgia Department of Labor (Georgia DOL) to help verify your identity for unemployment insurance (UI).
Identity verification with ID.me may be required if you have been locked out of your "My UI" portal or if you are filing a claim for unemployment insurance benefits.
Steps to verify your identity:
1. Go to the Georgia's Department of Labor website at dol.georgia.gov.Select the "Online Service" you would like to access.
2. Follow the GDOL prompts through the selected process until you are directed to Verify with ID.me. |

3. Click on the green Verify with ID.me button.You will be directed to the ID.me sign-in page. |
|

4. Sign in to your existing ID.me account, or create a new one.If you have previously created an ID.me account with a different email address, do not create a new one. Please sign in to your existing account and update your email address. |

5. Confirm your email address. |
|
|
6. Set up multi-factor authentication option (MFA). |
|
|
7. Verify your identity.Select Driver's license or state ID, Passport, or Passport card to upload. You can take a photo with your mobile device or upload from your computer. |

8. If you selected Take a photo with your device, follow the onscreen prompts.You'll be asked to input your phone number then ID.me will send you a text message with a link to your smartphone to take photos of your ID. You can also upload photos directly from your computer if you have the images of your ID saved on your computer hard drive. If you don't have a smartphone, you can still complete your identity verification without a smartphone. |

9. When prompted, take and submit a selfie. |
|
|
10. Enter all other requested information, including your Social Security number. |
|
|
11. Review and confirm to make sure all your information is accurate.Then, select Yes at the bottom of the screen. After ID.me verifies your identity, you will receive a confirmation text message as a way to protect you from fraud. |

Trusted Referee Video Call
If you are not able to complete the verification process due to an issue with your documentation, you will be routed to verify your identity over a video call with an ID.me Trusted Referee. Wait times may vary. You will need to show your identity documents to a Trusted Referee along with a selfie (a photo of yourself) to complete your verification.
After you've completed your verification with a Trusted Referee, follow the steps below to continue with your claim:
- Return to the GDOL site.
- Log in to your agency account.
- Provide your ID.me credentials when prompted.
- Follow the steps for GDOL, then select to Allow them to use your verified identity information.
What's Next
After you have verified your identity, either online or with the help of an ID.me Trusted Referee, you will receive another email from the GDOL within 3 days that provides specific instructions on how to unlock your account and reset your PIN. You may need to check your spam/junk email folder for this message.
