If you’re expecting a text message from ID.me but didn’t get one, this article can help. The steps to fix the issue depend on what you were doing when the message didn’t arrive — such as signing in with a verification code or uploading documents during identity verification.
Can’t sign in because you didn’t get a verification code
You may need to get a verification code when completing sign-in using multi-factor authentication (MFA). If you didn’t get the code:
-
Select “Resend my verification code.” This sends the text again.
- Choose “Call me.” If text doesn’t work, you can receive the code by phone call.
-
Still can’t sign in? Recover your MFA method
- Check your phone number. Confirm that the number shown on the “Complete your sign in” screen is your current number.
-
Check your phone settings:
- Make sure your device is connected to the internet or has wireless data.
- Ensure your phone isn’t blocking messages from ID.me.
Didn’t get the text to upload your documents?
You may be asked to upload or take photos of your documents using a link sent to your phone via text message. If you don’t get the text message:
- Start over on your smartphone. Restart the identity verification process using your phone instead of a computer.
-
Send it again. If you're still on the "Waiting for your photos" screen, select Send it again to resend the text.
-
Check your phone settings:
- Make sure your phone has internet access or mobile data.
- Confirm that your phone isn’t blocking messages from ID.me.
- Double-check that the phone number on the screen is yours.
