When starting verification from a computer, you can use a smartphone to upload document photos or submit a selfie. ID.me will send you a text message containing a link to begin the process. This article explains what to do if you don’t receive the text message.
Send another text message
If you didn’t receive a text message, go back to your browser and select Send it again. If you still don’t receive a text message, turn off your device, then turn it back on.
Retry photo or selfie steps
Make sure you follow the correct steps to begin the photo or selfie process.
1. Get started
During verification, if you start on a computer, you will have the option to take photos with your phone.
Do not close any web browser or tab during this step. If you accidentally close your web browser or tab on your computer, you must start the identity verification process again.
To start the identity verification process over again:
- Visit the website of the organization or state workforce agency you are verifying for.
- Find the link the organization or state workforce agency sent you via email.
2. Enter your phone number
When prompted, enter the phone number you will use to take your photo or selfie, then select Continue. Make sure you enter a number for a device you readily have access to.
3. Open the text message
Open the text message you received from ID.me and select the link. Follow the instructions to continue the verification process.
Troubleshooting
Use a computer or webcam
If you have difficulty taking photos using your smartphone, upload digital copies of your documents or use a computer with a webcam to submit your selfie.
If your document or selfie is rejected
If your document or selfie is rejected, follow the prompts to retry uploading again. Selecting the same text link more than once may cause an error. If this happens, close all tabs and restart the process.
