Whether you are verifying your identity on a video call or updating your name on your ID.me account, ID.me will review the documents you upload. This review can take two to three business days. After the review is complete, you will receive an email that includes whether or not your documents were approved, and what next steps to take.
If your documents were approved
After your documents are approved, you will receive an email that confirms your documents were approved. Depending on why your documents were reviewed, the email may give you instructions about what next steps you should take.
Verifying on a video call
If your documents are approved, the email you receive will invite you to join a video call. The wait time for a Video Chat Agent to join the call will vary. If wait times are long, and you don’t have time to wait in line, you can schedule a video call appointment for a time that works best for you.
If your documents were not approved
If your documents were not approved, you will receive an email with more information about why they weren’t approved, and what next steps to take.
Verifying on a video call
If your documents were not approved, the email you receive explains how to try uploading your documents again, before continuing with the verification process. Your documents must be approved before you can join a video call.
FAQs
Why don’t I have the option to wait for a Video Chat Agent?
When wait times are high, you don’t need to actively wait for your documents to be reviewed. Instead, you can upload and submit images of your documents, and you will be sent an email with next steps after your documents are reviewed.
After I upload my documents, do I need to wait there for them to be reviewed?
No. When you see the screen that shows your documents are being reviewed, you can select Save & Exit to leave and come back later. This way, you don’t need to actively wait for your documents to be reviewed. We’ll review your documents, then send you an email with next steps after the review is complete.
