To unlock exclusive first responder discounts through ID.me Shop, you must first verify your first responder status. This article walks you through each step of the ID.me first responders verification process.
Who qualifies for first responder discounts
Active and retired first responders may verify their status. For a detailed list of eligible and non-eligible job titles, visit Who qualifies for ID.me first responder discounts.
Documents to verify first responder status
To verify your first responder status, you may need to upload a document based on your job title. For a list of documents, visit What documents prove your first responder status.
1. Find and select a first responder discount
To get started:
- Go to the U.S. First Responders Discounts or Canadian First Responders Discounts.
- Browse the available discounts.
- Select the offer you’d like to get. You'll be redirected to the retailer’s website.

Select the ID.me button
The ID.me button most often displays at checkout. You may also need to specify that you are verifying as a first responder. You'll be redirected to the ID.me sign-in page.
2. Upload your document to verify
To verify your first responder status:
- Sign in to your existing ID.me account or create a new account.
- Select your first responder occupation (sub-community):

EMT / Paramedic - Select if you are state certified, then choose your state.
- If you are state certified, select I am state certified, then enter your EMT or EMS state or national certification number.
- If you are not state certified, select I am neither of the above, but I have documentation proving my certification, then upload an acceptable document.

Firefighter - Choose the state you are in and if you are ProBoard Certified or not.
Note: If your fire department does not send their certifications to the ProBoard, or if you’re having trouble, select No, I am not ProBoard certified and submit other acceptable documentation. - Law Enforcement Officer

EMT / Paramedic - Select if you are state certified, then choose your state.
- Select Begin.
- Enter your personal and first responder details. You may be prompted to upload documentation.
- Upload your document, then select Continue to submit your document.
- After your verification is accepted, select Allow to share your information with the retailer.
