The U.S. Department of Treasury works with ID.me to provide identity verification to access your online benefits and services. To access select Treasury online services or benefits, you will need to verify your identity with ID.me. This article explains how to verify for the Treasury Department using ID.me.
Sign in to Treasury
If you already have an ID.me account, sign in to your account:
- Go to the Treasury application you’d like to use and select Verify with ID.me.
- Enter your email address and password, then select Sign in.
- If required, follow the prompts to provide any additional information.
- From the Authorize screen, review the information that the Treasury will receive and then select Allow to consent to share that information with them. Otherwise, follow the prompts to verify your identity.

Verify for Treasury
If you’ve never had an ID.me account, you’ll create an account before verifying your identity using Self-Service. You may be asked to take a video selfie depending on the Treasury application you're trying to access.

After you verify
If you verified over a video call with a Video Chat Agent, follow these instructions to continue your application process:
- Go to the Treasury application you are trying to access.
- Sign in with your ID.me account with your email address and password.
- Select Allow to share your identity information with the Department of Treasury.
You can now login to your ID.me account to view which organizations you have verified your identity for at any time.
