Before you verify
To verify your identity, you’ll need specific information and documents, depending on if you verify using Self-Service, a video call, or in-person. We recommend gathering any necessary documents before you begin the verification process.
Self-Service
Self-Service is the most common verification method. To verify, you’ll need:
- A mobile phone that has a camera or a computer with a webcam
- Email address
- Social Security number
- Government-issued photo ID (driver's license, state ID, passport, passport card)
Video Call
During a short video call, you’ll upload your document, then work with a live agent to finish verification. To verify, you’ll need:

In-Person

1. Begin verification
To get started:
- Go to the Nevada DETR site.
- Select File a claim/Login. Sign in to your existing Nevada DETR account or select New user? to create an account..
Note: If you are creating a new Nevada DETR account, enter the necessary information and accept the User Agreement. - Select Verify with ID.me.
2. Sign in to ID.me
If you already have an ID.me account, sign in using your email address and password. If you’ve never used ID.me, create an account and follow the prompts.
3. Verify your identity
You can verify using Self-Service, on a short video call with a live agent, or in-person.
Self-Service
Self-Service is the most common verification method and usually takes 5-10 minutes to complete.

Verifying with a short video call requires you to upload your identification document, then join a brief video call with an ID.me Video Chat Agent.

In-Person

After you verify
After you have verified your identity, Nevada's DETR will reach out to you if anything further is required. If you completed your verification on a video call, follow the steps below to continue with your claim:
- Return to the Nevada DETR site.
- Log in to your Nevada DETR account.
- Enter your ID.me credentials when prompted.
- Follow the steps for Nevada DETR, then select Allow to consent to share your information and access the agency’s services.
