You can only have one ID.me account. If you already have an account, use that same account—don’t create a new one. To use your account for IRS business services, add your business email to your existing account. This article shows you how to add your business email and sign in with ID.me.

Already have an ID.me account? Add your business email

Sign in to your account and add your work email address:

1. Sign in to your ID.me account and complete multi-factor authentication (MFA).
2. From “My Account,” select Manage Profile.
3. Select Add an email.
4. Enter your work email address, then under “Email Type”, check “Work”.
5. Select Send confirmation. A confirmation message will be sent to your new email.
6. Open the confirmation email and select Confirm your email.
7. Go to the IRS application you’d like to access and select the ID.me button.
8. Sign in to your account. 
9. Follow the prompts to share your information to access the online service you need.

New to ID.me? Create your account for IRS business services

If you don’t have an ID.me account, you will need to create one, add your business email address, then verify your identity:

1. Go to ID.me and select Create an account.
2. Follow the prompts to create your account using your personal email address.
3. From “My Account,” select Manage Profile.
4. Select Add an email.
5. Enter your work email address, then under “Email Type”, check “Work”.
6. Select Send confirmation. A confirmation message will be sent to your new email.
7. Open the confirmation email and select Confirm your email.
8. Go to the IRS application you’d like to access and select the ID.me button.
9. Sign in to your account using your personal or work email address.
10. Follow the prompts to verify your identity for the IRS.
