ID.me has partnered with the California Employment Development Department (EDD) to help verify your identity, and your status as a medical provider, for disability insurance (DI).

- Photo ID (Driver's License, Passport, Passport Card, or State ID)

Signing in to your ID.me account
1. Navigate to the email you received from EDD asking you to verify your status as a licensed health professionalFor more information on this email, please contact California EDD. |

2. Select the link in the email, or copy the url into your browser. |

3. Select Verify with ID.me and sign in to your ID.me account.If you've never set up an account with ID.me, select Create account and continue following the steps below. |

Multi-factor Authentication

Verify your identity with Self-Service
Once you are signed in to your ID.me account, you can verify your identity with a video selfie, or over a video call with a live agent. Follow the steps to verify your identity with a video selfie. How do I verify my identity over a live video call? |

1. Select Self-Service, then select Continue.Self-service is an automated process where you'll need your Government ID and a selfie. |

2. Select the document type you want to upload.You can take a photo of the document with your smartphone or upload one from your computer. |

3. Take and submit a video selfie.Your selfie will only be used to confirm that the person in the selfie matches your government ID. Your selfie and biometric data will be deleted within 24 hours of verification. |

4. Enter your Social Security number. |

5. Review and confirm that all of your information is accurate and select Yes.After ID.me verifies your identity you will receive a confirmation message as a way to protect you from fraud. |

6. Select Allow and continue to finish your identity verification process.This step securely shares your identity information with EDD and enables you to access the EDD application for which you verified. |

Verify as a licensed health professional
1. Select Begin to provide your NPI credential. |

2. Enter your personal Type 1 NPI number and then select Continue. |
|
|
3. Review the information on this screen, and if everything is correct, select Continue. |
|

4. If your credentials are approved, you will see a screen that says "You're Verified." Select Continue to proceed.If you verified your identity via a video call with a Trusted Referee, there are a few final steps you must complete before ID.me can send your information to California EDD. |

What happens next?
After you have verified your identity, you will receive another email from the California EDD with specific instructions on any further actions necessary to validate the disability insurance claim.
