During identity verification, you may need to return to a browser tab you already have open when submitting documents or taking a video selfie. A browser tab is an open webpage in Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge, or another browser.
Follow the instructions for your browser below. If you started verification on a computer and continued on your smartphone, go to Return to your computer after using your smartphone.
Chrome on iPhone
- Find the Switch tabs icon. It looks like a square with a number inside it.
- Select the Switch tabs icon to see your open tabs.
- Select the tab where you started your ID.me verification.

Return to your computer after using your smartphone
If you start your ID.me verification on a computer, you may need to use your smartphone to upload documents and take a video selfie. After completing these steps on your smartphone, you’ll return to your computer to continue verification.
- Keep ID.me open on your computer. When prompted, enter your phone number. We’ll send you a text message. Keep this browser tab open.
- Continue on your smartphone. Open the link in the text message. Follow the prompts to upload your documents and take a video selfie. When you’re finished, you’ll be instructed to return to your computer.
- Return to your computer. Go back to the browser tab where you started your ID.me verification, then follow the prompts to continue.
