Email addresses can only be on one ID.me account. If you want to use the email address that’s on your duplicate account, you need to close the duplicate account first. After the duplicate account is closed, you can add that email address to your original ID.me account
This article provides instructions on how to use a personal or work email from a duplicate account on your original account.
Note: If you have multiple accounts and want to close one, ensure you close the new, duplicate account. Do not close your original, verified account.

Sign in to your duplicate account
Go to the ID.me sign-in page and sign in to your duplicate account. -
Go to your privacy settings
In the top menu of your account, select Sign In & Security, then select Privacy. -
Close your duplicate account
- Under “Manage my data”, select Remove my data.
- Select Close my account.
- Review the “Close my account” screen, then select Continue.
- Choose a reason for closing your account.
- Select Yes, close my account.
You will receive an email confirming closure of your account.

Add the email to your original account
- Sign in to your original ID.me account.
