“Error 114” or “Err 114” is a technical error that comes from your operating system, not  from ID.me. This article explains what to do when you see this error, depending on your operating system.

Fix error 114 on iPhone or Mac

If you’re using an Apple OS device, like an iPhone or mac computer, you may receive Error 114 when you try to make a purchase. For example, if you’re using Apple Pay to pay your taxes. In this case, Error 114 means your phone or computer is having trouble processing payments with Apple Pay.   

To avoid this error, sign in to your partner’s website directly, then complete the payment with a debit or credit card.

Fix error 114 when opening files on Windows

If you’re using Windows software on a PCm you may receive Error 114 when trying to open a file. This error sometimes appears if you saved your file with a very long name, or if your computer was shut off, and saved a temporary copy of your document that has a long name.  

To fix this, select your document’s title then rename it, using a title that’s less than 20 characters long.
