After verifying your identity, you can use your digital ID to access government benefits and services. If you can’t access those benefits or services, you’ll need to contact the organization or agency directly.
ID.me can only assist with issues related to verifying your identity or signing in to your ID.me account.
Confirm your identity verification was successful
Before contacting an organization, make sure your identity verification was successful by following these steps:
- Go to the ID.me sign-in page and sign in to your account.
- Select My Wallet or Manage IDs.
- Check under “Active IDs” for a Verified Identity card.
If you don’t see this card, retry verifying your identity.
Confirm you shared your information
To check that you shared your information with the organization:
- Visit Managing the information you shared with an organization.
- Check for the following details:
- Website name: The name of the organization you verified for.
- Authorized: The date and time you shared your information.
If you don’t see the organization’s name, go to the website of the organization, select the ID.me button, sign in to your account, then select Allow when prompted.
When to contact an organization or agency
If you’ve confirmed your identity verification was successful and shared your information, here are common issues where you should contact the organization:
- Eligibility or accessing benefits: For questions about unemployment, veterans’ benefits, or other services.
- Tax filing and forms: For issues such as getting an IP PIN, tax forms, payment plans, tax transcripts or refund statuses, contact the IRS.
- Technical issues: For issues with signing in to an organization or agency’s portal or application errors (e.g., IRS error codes, locked account errors with FloridaCommerce), contact the organization for assistance.
