Verify for NJDOL
If you’ve never had an ID.me account, you’ll create an account before verifying your identity.
- Go to the NJDOL Verification Landing Page and select Verify identity.
- Enter your personal email address, password, then select Create account and follow the prompts.
- Go to your ID.me profile and add the email address that’s on your NJDOL application (if it’s different from your personal address).
- Return to the NJDOL Verification Landing Page
- Select If you have an ID.me account, use it to sign in.
- Enter your email address and password, then select Sign in.
When prompted, choose how to verify:
- Self–Service: Upload your identity documents and a video selfie. This self-directed process usually takes 5-10 minutes and guides you through each step on your screen. For step-by-step instructions, visit Verifying your identity with Self-Service.
- Video Call: Upload your identity documents, enter your personal information, then join an ID.me Video Chat Agent on a video call. The agent will compare you to the document you uploaded. For step-by-step instructions, visit Verifying with a short video call.
- In Person: Book an appointment and bring your identity documents and 'Registration Code' to an Identity Network Location at your scheduled time. If you choose the walk-in option, you can visit at your convenience. For step-by-step instructions, visit Verifying your identity in person.
After you verify with NJDOL
To complete the process, you must consent to share your information with NJDOL. How you do this depends on the verification method you used:
- Self-service: After you confirm your information, select Allow to share your information.
- Video Chat Agent or in-person: To return to Authorize screen and review the information that NJDOL will receive:
- Return to New Jersey Unemployment Insurance Claim Status and select Verify with ID.me.
- Sign in to your existing ID.me account and authenticate with your MFA option.
- When prompted, select Allow to share your identity information with NJDOL.
After you’ve shared your identity information with NJDOL, you’ll need to wait for a confirmation email from New Jersey Unemployment before you can start certifying. The New Jersey email will include your next steps for filing your claim.
