During the verification process, you may need to switch between browser tabs when uploading documents or taking a video selfie. This article explains how to switch tabs across different browsers and devices. 

How to switch tabs in your browser

Chrome

On a smartphone:

1. Find and select the "❐" switch tabs icon.
   • iPhone: The icon is at the bottom of the screen.
   • Android: The icon is at the top of the screen.
2. Select the tab you want to return to.

On a computer, find and click the tab where you started verification.

On a smartphone:

1. Go to the bottom right corner of your screen.
2. Find and select the ⧉ Overlapping Squares icon.
3. Select the tab you want to return to.

Microsoft Edge

On a smartphone:

1. Go to the bottom right corner of your screen.
2. Find and select the ▢ Boxed Number icon.
3. Select the tab you want to go to.

On a computer, find and click the tab where you started verification.

What to do when asked to return to another tab

When you begin verification on a computer, you will also open a browser tab or window on your smartphone:

• Computer browser: Where you start the verification process.
• Smartphone browser: Where you upload documents or take a video selfie.

Step 1: Begin verification on your computer

1. From your computer’s browser, follow the steps to verify your identity.
2. When prompted, enter your phone number. ID.me will send you a text message. The original tab will say “Waiting for your photos.” Keep this tab open to return to later.
   

Step 2: Upload documents and take a video selfie from your smartphone’s browser

1. From your smartphone, go to your text messages and click the link in the text message. A new browser tab will open on your smartphone.
2. Upload your documents and take a video selfie. After doing that, you will see a screen instructing you to return to the browser on your computer.
   

Step 3: Return to the browser on your computer

1. Go back to the browser tab on your computer, where you started the verification process.
2. Follow the prompts to complete your verification.
