When verifying your identity, you can complete the process in a language other than English.
This article explains how to select a different language for Self-Service verification or how to request assistance in another language during a video call.
Note: The languages you can choose from vary, depending on the organization you need to access using ID.me.
Change language during Self-Service
To change the language you use for verification:
- Go to the website for the organization you need to access using ID.me.
- Find and select the ID.me button.
- At the bottom of the sign-in or create an ID.me account screen, select English, then select the language you’d like to use.
- Sign in to your existing ID.me account or create a new account, then then follow the prompts to verify your identity.
Complete a video call in a different language
If you’re unable to complete your video call in English, there are a few options to verify your identity with a Video Chat Agent:
Option 1: Request a Video Chat Agent in your language
When a Video Chat Agent joins the call, ask if an agent is available who speaks your language.
Tip: ID.me supports video calls in over 240 languages. If you prefer to verify in a language other than English, inform the Video Chat Agent, who will bring in a third-party interpreter.
Option 2: Use an In-Person Translator
You can also choose to have an in-person translator assist you during the video call. To learn more about who can help you during a video call, visit How helpers and interpreters can support you during a video call.
