Need to verify your identity in Spanish or another language? ID.me supports verification in languages other than English for both Self-Service and video calls. This article explains how to switch languages and get support if English isn’t your preferred language.
How to change the language for Self-Service verification
To change the language you use for verification:
- Go to the website for the organization you need to access using ID.me.
- Find and select the ID.me button.
- At the bottom of the sign-in or create an ID.me account screen, select English, then select the language you’d like to use.
- Sign in to your existing ID.me account or create a new account, then then follow the prompts to verify your identity.
How to get language support for your ID.me video call
ID.me supports video calls in over 240 languages. If you’re unable to complete your video call in English, there are a few options to verify your identity with a Video Chat Agent:
Option 1: Request a Video Chat Agent in your language
If you prefer to verify in a language other than English, let the Video Chat Agent know.
We may bring in a third-party interpreter to assist you, or transfer you to another agent who speaks your language.
If you're transferred, your current video call will end, and you’ll be placed in a new line to wait for the next available agent. To join the line, return to the previous browser tab you had open.
Option 2: Use an In-Person Translator
You can also choose to have an in-person translator assist you during the video call. To learn more about who can help you during a video call, visit How helpers and interpreters can support you during a video call.
