The process for verifying your identity for EPCS or eRx should be simple and fast.
The steps you will take to verify your identity with ID.me will be based on your Health IT provider’s policy with ID.me.
Your Health IT provider should have sent you directions for How to Get Started with your identity verification for EPCS or eRx. These will be the first steps that you will take will to complete identity verification with ID.me from within your Health IT provider’s workflow before you connect to ID.me.
After you connect to ID.me, the steps to complete identity verification should be:
Step 1: Sign Up or Sign In to your ID.me Account:
If you do not have an ID.me account, you should Sign Up for an ID.me account. If you have already have an ID.me account and/or have already completed identity proofing with ID.me for another Health IT provider, you should Sign In to ID.me. After you have signed up for an account, you will confirm your email address.
Step 2: Secure your account:
Secure your account with an additional layer of security via two-factor authentication (2FA) also known as multifactor authentication (MFA).
Multifactor authentication (MFA) strengthens access security to your account by requiring an at least two methods to verify your identity.
Step 3: Verify your Identity:
You will be presented with options of how you may choose to verify your identity based on your Health IT provider’s policy with ID.me. These options may include: Driver’s License, state issued identification, Passport, Passport Card, or questions based on your credit history.
Complete the information requested to complete your identity verification.
Step 4: Medical Credential Check (optional):
Your Health IT provider may or may not choose to have ID.me verify your Medical Credentials. If your Health IT provider has chosen to have ID.me verify your Medical Credentials, the Medical Credential steps will present themselves to you in our workflow.
Step 5: Consent - Allow:
The final step is to give consent for your data to be shared back to your Health IT provider. When you click ‘Allow’, the data attributes listed on the Consent screen will be shared back to the Health IT partner.
