What if my updated information is not accepted?
If your identity information is not accepted after submitting an update, you will be directed to meet with a Trusted Referee on a video call. A Trusted Referee is a trained identity specialist employed by ID.me to prove your identity.
When verifying your identity with a Trusted Referee, you will be asked to upload photos of your identification documents and show the physical copies to an ID.me Trusted Referee. You can show either two primary documents or one primary document and one secondary documents. You may need to provide additional documentation:
- To prove your Social Security number or ITIN

- If your name has changed
Look for a Verify identity on a video call button like the one below to verify your identity with an ID.me Trusted Referee.
