Use your ID.me account for business purposes by adding your work email address to your account. Each person can only have one verified account, so you cannot create a separate ID.me account for work. This article explains how to set up your account for work.
Add your work email
I already have an ID.me account
Follow these steps if you already have an ID.me account:
- Go to the ID.me sign-in page and sign in to your account.
- From “My Account,” select Manage Profile.
- Select Add an email.
- Enter your work email address, then under “Email Type”, check “Work”.
- Select Send confirmation. A confirmation message will be sent to your new email.
- Open the confirmation email and select Confirm your email.
Note: If needed, set your work email as the primary email on your account.
I need to create an ID.me account for the first time
Follow these steps if you don’t have an ID.me account:
- On a mobile device, go to ID.me and select the three dots, then select Start here. If using a computer, select Sign in, then select Create an ID.me account.
- Enter your personal email address and a strong password, then select Create account.
- Follow the prompts to continue creating your account.
- From “My Account,” select Manage Profile.
- Select Add an email, then enter your work email address.
- Under “Email Type”, check “Work”.
- Select Send confirmation. A confirmation message will be sent to your new email.
- Open the confirmation email and select the confirmation link.
Note: If needed, set your work email as the primary email on your account.
After you add your work email
After you add your work email:
- Go to the organization or website you need to access and select the ID.me button.
- Sign in to your ID.me account using either your work or personal email.
- Follow the prompts to consent to share your information or verify your identity, if prompted.
You may need to verify your identity through one of the following methods:
- Self-Service: The fastest way to verify for most federal and state benefits or services.
- Video Chat Agent: This option may be available for you to choose, or required if you’re unable to complete Self-Service.
- Healthcare Verification (EPCS/eRx): For healthcare providers. Required for Electronic Prescriptions of Controlled Substances (EPCS) or ePrescribing (eRx).
