If you already have an existing ID.me or IRS account, you can access IRS tools and applications by selecting Sign in with ID.me or Sign in with an existing IRS username, and completing additional steps after signing in.
For those verifying their identity with ID.me for the first time, you can choose Self-Service or a live call with Video Chat Agent. To verify with a Video Chat Agent, follow the steps below. The verification process will take approximately 5-10 minutes, plus the wait time for the next available video chat agent. No biometric data will be collected in this option.

Verify your identity with a Video Call
Once you are signed in to your ID.me account, you can choose to either verify your identity with a video selfie or over a video call with a live agent. Follow the steps to verify your identity with a Video Chat Agent. How do I verify my identity with a video selfie? |

1. Select Video Chat Agent, then select Continue.

2. Select Get Started, accept ID.me's consent to collect personally identifiable information, and then select Continue.

3. Fill in your information and select Continue.Make sure the information you provide matches the information on your documents. |

5. Select the primary document you would like to use and select Continue.You'll need to upload a photo of two primary documents or one primary and two secondary documents. Your document should:
